Frequently asked questions
What is Staking?
Solana staking is the process by which SOL token holders delegate their tokens to a validator on the Solana network, helping to secure the blockchain and maintain its performance. In Solanaās proof-of-stake system, validators are responsible for processing transactions and adding new blocks to the chain. When you delegate your SOL tokens to a validator, you increase the validatorās voting weight, improving your chances of participating in the validatorās consensus.
Who is staker?
Anyone can become a staker (delegator) by holding SOL tokens and choosing to delegate them to a validator. You can delegate your SOL to Birdeye Plus Validator anytime.
What is a Stake Account?
A staking account in the Solana network is a dedicated account used to hold and manage SOL tokens delegated to a validator for staking. This account keeps track of the amount of SOL staked, the identity of the validator, and the accumulated rewards. At the same time, the tokens remain locked and cannot be transferred or spent during the staking period.
When a user stakes their SOL, a staking account is created. It allows actions such as delegating to different validators, deactivating stakes (including a waiting period before tokens can be withdrawn), and claiming rewards based on the validatorās performance. Staking accounts are essential for safely participating in staking and contribute to the security and efficiency of the network.
What is the reward for stakers on Birdeye Plus?
Rewards for stakers on Birdeye Plus Validator are typically additional SOL tokens, earned as a percentage of their stake. These rewards come from network inflation and are distributed to both validators and their delegators based on many factors such as stake amount, the validatorās performance, and the Solana networkās inflation rate.
Rewards are issued at the end of each epoch (a specific period in the Solana network), and stakers receive a proportionate share of the rewards based on their contribution to the validatorās voting power.
Besides, stakers on Birdeye Plus can also participate in exclusive events on the Birdeye ecosystem and have opportunities to receive additional perks. You can explore all the events here.
How can I unstake my SOL if I encounter an error on the Birdeye Finance app?
If you are unable to unstake your SOL on the Birdeye Plus app, try the following:
Using a Wallet that Supports Unstaking
You can unstake your SOL tokens from stake accounts using your wallet. Most Solana-compatible wallets (e.g., Phantom, Solflare) allow you to unstake your SOL directly.
Using a Command-Line Interface (CLI)
For more control, you can use the Solana CLI to unstake your tokens. This requires running specific commands to deactivate your stake account and, after the cooldown period, withdrawing the SOL to your wallet.
